In arm and hand losses above the elbow, both elbow movements and functions of the wrist and hand are lost. In cases of loss at this level, the movements of the arm and hand are tried to be imitated with myo-electric prostheses, except for the mechanical arm options in the prosthesis. In mechanical prostheses, the arm is operated with shoulder movements, while in electronic solutions, movements in the prosthetic arm are made with the contractions taken from the upper level of the healthy muscles. Such prostheses are more preferred for the user, especially in case of loss of the dominant side.

Myo Electronically Controlled Prostheses

An eight-channel myo-electric control system is used in the shoulder disarticulation prosthesis. The shoulder joint has an electronic locking device and the elbow joint, hand and wrist unit are controlled by myo-electric control system.
